Stephanie Murphy
Dr. Stephanie Murphy (Associate Research Professor, SIROW, College of Social and Behavioral Science) is the Director of the Women in Science and Engineering Program. Since earning her doctoral degree (2018) in Gender and Women's Studies, Dr. Murphy has maintained a research agenda focused on women's labor and gendered technology, using both quantitative and qualitative approaches to better understand gender within US higher education and workforce. Dr. Murphy also conducts applied research, program evaluation, teaching/training in the areas of equity in education and employment, with special attention to STEM fields and has experience developing, implementing, and evaluating community-based programs and institutional interventions. As an immigrant and the first in her family to attend college, Dr. Murphy is deeply invested in making STEM education more accessible to underserved communities here in Southern Arizona.
